Description

DS1302S+ is a compact real-time clock (RTC) IC (variant of Maxim/Dallas DS1302). It keeps time when powered from Vcc or a backup battery via VBAT, making it ideal for battery-backed clocks and data-loggers. It uses a three-wire serial interface (CE, CLK, IO) for reading/writing registers and a 32 kHz oscillator input for timekeeping. It provides time/date registers (seconds, minutes, hours, date, day, month, year), supports 24/12-hour mode, and handles leap years (typically year 00–99). It also includes 31 bytes of battery-backed RAM for data storage and a trickle-charge circuit to recharge the backup battery. The DS1302S+ is a low-power, inexpensive RTC you can interface with microcontrollers via simple bit-banging or SPI-like code.
